T:I like the keyboarad S: I don't like the keyboard! tooooo small!
1.Why not one for school and one for home?
PRO | CONTRA |
---|---|
* the homework and/or the scripts can be saved on the pc and won't get lost | * If the PC breaks down, everything is lost |
* learn to handle a PC | * handwriting forfeits |
* learnig for school or exploring is possible everywhere | * danger of using the PC wrongly (e.g. Games) |
2. What do you think would be the best way to use it at/for school? Think of different subjects!
1. in language subjects it's good to use because:
- you learn the spelling
- you can look up the vocabulary directly in the internet
- you can quickly correct your texts
2. in subject in which you have to use numbers it's not useful because:
- the numbers are hard to type , esp. mathematical functions and equations
YES because | NO because |
---|---|
* you can get information faster, easier and for free | * you can get distracted from your homework by PC games or chat |
* a modern way of learning --> it is more fun to learn | * we both learn better from paper --> you can turn pages or put book in our pocket |
4. What disadvantages/problems do you see in working with your personal laptop at and for school?
- Distraction, unhealthy for your eyes possibly for your back, too beacause you sit crooked and very long in front of it.
- You spend too much time in front if the PC and you can lose friends and you haven't got enough time left for your hobbies .

1. even cheaper laptops for under 100$
- We think it's a good idea because:
- the price is now low enough that more people buy it
- We think it's bad because:
- the qualitiy drops away
2. sunlight-readable screens are added to other products, including laptops, cellphones and digital cameras
- We think it's good because:
- it makes the PC's usable everywhere
- We think it's bad because:
- the prize will rise again
All in all we think it's a positiv development, because now even more people are able to afford more laptops and so they can support the project "One laptop per child".
When we put it all together in a nutshell, we can say that:
- the laptops failed in most of the tested critereas :
1. keyboard and screen are too small 2. powering up takes too much time 3. the battery gives up early 4. when you open two or more internet pages you have to switch very often from page to page 5. the internet pages don't fit into the sreen
- it suceeded in some other critereas:
1. the touchpad is okay 2. the lid works (how long, we couldn't test)
