Mediation "Scorpions"
Wind of Change comes to Nashville
A wind of change was blowing in Germany in late 1989 when the Berlin Wall fell with the end of Communism in the Soviet Union. It was good fortune for the popular German band "The Scorpions" that their song "Wind of Change" was released during these historic times. As a consequence people associated the political change with the song, which became as a result a big hit. Incidentally, it became the Scorpion's biggest hit of their career. The band remebers these times fondly although knowing that it was really just a concidence that both events took part at the same time. The Scorpions had, however, also bad times, when, for example, their singer Klaus lost his voice during a recording session in the South of France in 1981. He even needed surgery and couldn't speak or sing for some time. These are problems of the past though and Nashville is looking forward to a spectacular concert in the Bridgestone Arena where the band will undoubtedly perform "Wind of Change", too. Although the guys have become older, they still love making music and they are still looking forward to many years of bringing good music to their fans. Music is certainly their passion although, according to lead guitarist Matthias Jabs, they aren't unhappy about the good sides that come with being a successful band. There is surely nobody who hates the travelling and being adored by thousands of people.
So become one of them and come and see the Scorpions, so you can feel the wind of change, too.
Mediation "Südafrika braucht keine WM"
Hello Jackie,
how are you? I am really good and probably just as excited as you are about the upcoming Soccer World Cup in Brazil. I have read quite a few articles about it and I fear that they will have to face the same problems they had in South Africa four years ago. Just like in Brazil now South Africans had hoped that by organizing the world cup they would get respected and accepted by the powerful western countries as they had suffered from a lack of self esteem after the years of being criticized for the apartheid policy. Although the soccer fans have certainly enjoyed the matches and the atmosphere the people of South Africa have a different attitude towards the tournament because for them it is associated with many social and financial problems. You wouldn’t believe what they had to go through before the world cup could start. These poor people’s tax money was wasted on the construction of stadiums which were mostly unnecessary. The one in Cape Town, for example, had to be built in another place, so they view would be better which doubled the cost. In Durban they didn’t have to build a new stadium but did it anyways justifying it by needing it for future sport events like the Olympics. That’s crap, really! That is, however, not even the worst they did. In Johannesburg they send poor immigrants away from their homes and took away people land for next to nothing. In Nelspruit they even destroyed a school which hasn’t been rebuilt yet. On top of that experts are quite certain that a lot of corruption was going on in the process of preparing for the world cup. I fear that despite hoping for an economical boom because of the world cup, South Africa, on the contrary, lost a lot of money this way. Unfortunately, the same seems to be true in Brazil. I have already heard about cases of corruption there, too, and of course about the protests about the government’s heavy spending on the construction of stadiums. History seems to repeat itself. Have you heard anything about that in England? I would love to hear from you soon to get your take on the matter. Hope to hear from you soon, …

Gifted Girl Going Big
Minu Dietlinde is only 14 years old but she has already graduated from high school with the best grade possible. Her race through school started for her unlike for most students not in grade one but in grade three as her writing and reading skills had already surpassed those of her classmates. Having passed elementary school she skipped grade 5 and later on even went straight from grade 10 to grade 12 as part of an experiment which her class took part in. Asked whether she has any regrets about her fast track through the school system, Minu happily talks about her mainly female friends she has made during that time. She feels, however, sorry about the fact that the boys never really accepted her and that she couldn’t take part in the PE lessons as the teachers feared that she might get injured due to her physique which has always been petite compared to that of her classmates. These minor setbacks won’t stop her though from continuing her education as she plans to study medicine at the University of Heidelberg to work later on in research or teaching. Knowing about her success, it might come as a surprise that Minu doesn’t spend all her free time studying but that she enjoys similar things other kids her age like. So she loves reading books and writing stories although in English and she took part in a biology program- just for fun. The future has certainly big things in store for this gifted girl.

TEXT PRODUCTION
Here is an example of a comment
„Get up, Nigger.“ These are the words that young Rosa Parks probably heard on that December afternoon in Montgomery Alabama in 1955. The Alabama segregation law demanded from her to give up her seat for a white man which she refused to do that day as she was tired from a hard day of work. As a consequence she was arrested and had to pay a considerable fine.
This act of bravery and defiance caused Martin Luther King, a black Baptist preacher, to start the Civil Rights Movement which led to the famous Montgomery Bus Boycott during which African Americans refused to take the local buses. This non-violent protest was successful because segregation on buses was made illegal by the Supreme Court. In the course of the next years the movement achieved more equality for African Americans by making the government pass more civil rights laws. Rosa did, however, not only inspire African Americans but also whites whose attention was, for the first time, drawn in a very public way to the injustice and discrimination in the South. That caused many Americans to contribute more actively to the Civil Rights Movement. The result of that was the mass protest in Washington in 1963 when whites and blacks protested together against discrimination in the USA.
So Rosa Parks has been the metaphorical spark to a fire which would eventually consume all of the United States and bring more equality to the United States and therefore change history.

Here is the improved statement answering the question why people should NOT tombstone
Tombstoning has become a favourite pastime for teenagers and even adults who want to experience the rush of adrenaline by jumping off a cliff. These jumps can also end in tragedy when a tombstoner hits a rock on the bottom because they didn’t anticipate the shallowness of the water or is swept away by the strong current. This can cause serious injuries like fractured bones, severe blood loss or you can hurt your spine or head which can leave you disabled for life. Being then in a wheelchair changes not only your whole life but also that of your family. Some tombstoners even die as a result of their injuries. Therefore, people should not jump off cliffs as it is too dangerous and can alter your life in ways you never wished for.
