Reasons for landing on the streets:
- difficult, sometimes poor families with unemployment, drug problems
- at home nobody cared about them
- problems with parents because of friends, school …
- terrible experiences like a death in the family, abuse/domestic violence
- parents have thrown them out
- parents can't cope teenagers with drug addiction and stealing/prostitution
Help offered to the children and teenagers in youth centres/open houses:
- safe place where you can rest
- place where you can take a shower, wash your clothes, eat
- someone listens to them
- help and advice with medical problems, drug problems, school, finding a job, findig a place to live
- help /avice on talking to parents again
- help with looking for a job/writing letters of application/job interviews
- prove to them that they aren't losers, that they have strengths and skills and that work can be fun
