Explain the reasons why there is so much poverty and inequality in the United States and why it will only get worse.
- Poverty and inequality omnipresent even for those who work: Not every American has access to clean water and sanitation → get sick (hookworm)
- Social mobility doesn’t really work in USA
EXAMPLE: Walmart employees must apply for food stamps because don’t earn enough → Poor kids don’t have access to proper nutrition and education →can’t get a good job (vicious circle)
- FUTURE: Trump administrations plans on tax reforms which benefit the rich, cut healthcare and welfare programs which could help the poor→ situation will get worse
