We don't want to have laptops at school, because the culture of hand-writing would get lost and we think it is easier to remember things, if you have written them by hand. Moreover you would be exposed to the radiation. In addition many pupils already have their own laptop anyway.

There are some subjects in which laptops would be useful.

• In English you can use an online-dictionary
• In Physics you can look for online-trials
• In Music you can use online programs to create songs and you can listen to songs
• In German you can read many texts on the internet
• In other minor subjects you can find a lot of information

BUT: tests should be written by hand, because you could cheat

3.

NO: We don't think learning with a laptop is more effective, because you will be distracted by many things like games or tux paint. Furthermore you will get square eyes, as every child knows:)

Criticism

• laptops are no solution for the problems in Africa: subsidies should be used for essential things
• misplaced priorities: clean water and schools are more important
• attempt to exploit poor nations by making them pay for the laptops
• it is "imperialistic"
• over high-tech
• too expensive: libraries would be cheaper and so they are more appropriate solutions for education

Testing Critera for a laptop at school

• powering up is too slow
• keyboard is too small ==> typing quickly is very difficult
• screen is ok
• touchpad is good
• lid seems to be stiff
• you can read very well
• for this size it's too heavy
