1 We would like it because it's very useful and would be a good replacement for the papers, exercise books which had to be used before, you won´t have to take them all with you.

2 Good way of using the Internet for example is to search for information and use it for presentations or discuss it in class, to use the laptops instead of an exercise book and you have all your entries with one click.

3 + 4 We think it won´t help you to learn better and faster because there are unlimited opportunities what you can do with your laptop: you could play games, could chat with your friends, could post some posts in bloggs, all this things are, like you know, things which keep you away from learning.

4 You can get fake information from the internet because not everything on the internet is true.

René Nüßlein:

  • The costs of the laptop programm are criticized.
  • Pupils become masters in video games or get faster at typing but don´t become better in school.
  • “It´s better to wait and buy one for college” (Eddie, 18, Liverpool)
  • Schools invest in laptops because they think they are the key to the 21st century classroom.
  • The project costs 45mio Dollar, financed with city, state and federal money.
  • Many school administrators and teachers says that laptops have motivated even lazy students.
  • A study, which compares schools with laptops to schools without laptops, diagnoses that the schools with laptops are better in math.

Contra

   * The corporate feeling gets lost ???? Explain - why?
   * Distraction because of the internet
   * Computer-rooms are already there
   * Loss of the traditional handwriting
   * Loss of comunication between the pupils
   * too small
   * too slow
   * the keyboard is much too small
   * the touchpad is too insensibal
   * for German standards too bad
   * the display is too small
   * the battery is too weak
   * There are also costs for internet-connections e.g. in Africa one month costs $200.
   * Many of the laptops cost more than $100.
   * The prices will grow higher and higher from time to time.
   * The people need support from the government because they are too poor to buy the laptops themselves.
   * A great problem could be the high electricity bill for the school and the pupils could do other things like internet games or something like that. Also the teachers must be trained in using laptops and solving technical problems.

   * graphs can be drawn very easily ==> easier to imagine their look as just with a few points.
   * searching the internet is faster and easier than looking up in books and libraries.
