The author considers the bombings of Bali and Kenya as one of the most distressing developments of the year because it hit some poor countries which take the biggest part of their income from the tourism and can't afford it to get lost. In countries like those tourism is the best and sometimes only way out of poverty. The author for example thinks of the employment in the region of Bali sinking by more than 20%. And because of especially Bali being an outrider for the region the attacks might influence not only the directly hit countries but also their surrounding ones.
