Writing a Diary Entry:
- personal perspective
- can be informal
- 1st person
- authentic language (e.g. a teenager may sound like a teenager)
- you can address your diary directly (Dear diary ... Good night ...) è "dialogue with diary"
- about your/character's hopes, feelings, plans, problems
- could be intendend be be kept secret OR clearly written to be published/shared later (e.g. blog, travel diaries)
- entries often start with an introduction/general statement about the day ...
- the main part may contain
- reflection of events in the past
- pensive entries assessing present situation (feelings, chances)
- outlook to /expectation for the future (hopes/fears)
- a mix of all three?
- entries often end in a final remark about the day/a reason why you stop now, or some thoughts about the future
